In 2004 Jennifer started the "Places I Have Never Been" drawing series. She was driving to NH on a dark night listening to Modest Mouse. They have a line in a song that says "we named our children after towns, that we've never been to." She started day dreaming about places she had never been to and started to see patterns. When she got home, Jennifer started to sketch and decided to put the drawings together as a desk calendar gift for my design clients. People really enjoyed the calendar so she started to sell them and it organically morphed into a print series of "modern travel posters." Over 70 patterns have been created and dedicated to places around the world (from Charleston, South Carolina, to Bangkok, Thailand)...
Each year Jennifer picks 12 new places she has not yet visited and research details about them : what you would experience there, the color palette, what you would eat, who you would meet.
Jennifer does travel quite a bit. In 1996 she studied in Belize and Guatemala for a few weeks. In 2001 she backpacked through Europe stopping in Venice, Paris, Florence, Lausanne and Geneva. She is fortunate to have seen much of the US. In 2009 Jennifer was married in the small surf village Playa Negra, Costa Rica. and after honeymooned in Madrid, Spain and Marrakech, Morocco.
The original JHill design. Our City Prints showcase Jennifer's pattern and share some facts: what language you would speak, how many miles you would travel from Boston, what you would eat, what you would drink and an original experience, which must be had when traveling to this specific destination.
Inspired by vintage flash cards, this series was created in 2010. The map prints pay homage to a country or state by sharing a little riddle about that place's history. Include the year of a special event, the longitude and latitude of where it took place and three key words. This collection has transpired into a series of Boston Sports Prints - dedicated to the four beloved teams (Bruins, Sox, Celtics and Patriots!).
Inspired by patchwork quilts, Jennifer's animal alphabet is a parade of bold and bright a-z animals. A is for aardvark, B is for bear... each animal
silhouette is filled
with a colorful pattern from the original City Print designs. They make great modern monogram gifts for
new babies! The 9x9 animals are digital creations, printed on fine matte paper .
Illustrator Marisa Green, of Studio Danae, and PIHNB pattern master Jennifer
have been best friends since their freshman year at MassArt. They combined their talents and introduced their Family Tree. Using PIHNB patterns - Andalucia for the leaves and Kilauea for the trunk - it's a modern twist on a family classic. Printed with archival inks on our soft velvet paper, it can be
customized in our studio or sent to you blank for DIY fill-in-the-blank
Here from the beginning, the annual JHill calendar is a classic. It also is the first product to debut 12 new patterns every year.
Created in 2010, the wedding collection offers three favorite PIHNB patterns (Andalucia, Champagne and Pondicherry) in two suites (Topsfield and Grafton).
